WVCEDA WELLBEING IS EVERYONE’S BUSINESS

Updated: May 6

Wellbeing in Business Afternoon

Thursday 23 May 2024 from 1pm to 6pm

At the Warburton Arts Centre

FORMAT

When we feel overwhelmed it is easy to lose sight of the big picture or forget to do the things that make meaning for us. Business life, and personal life, can’t help but be affected by the day-to-day rigours of keeping the wheels turning. We need to take care of each other, our teams, our families and especially ourselves.

Our Wellbeing in Business Afternoon is a chance for you to pause, learn and develop a refreshed mindset about what is important and the practical ‘little’ things that make a difference–such as attending to your own self-care so you can be there for everything else. Step out of the ‘busyness’ and into an afternoon that will amuse, inspire and regenerate your own sense of wellbeing. You will be entertained, and it will matter because wellbeing matters.

Our Wellbeing in Business Afternoon will include:

  • Keynote speaker and MC – Nelly Thomas “Losing it and getting it back – how we can thrive personally and professionally”.

  • Panel Discussion – “Wellbeing is everyone’s business” with Emily Gole from People Design and others, facilitated by Nelly Thomas.

  • Workshops – Choose from a range of breakout experiences with a focus on wellbeing including Cartooning, a Relaxation sound bath, Group Singing experience, easy Yoga

  • Networking – Throughout the day and post-event

This Wellbeing in Business Afternoon is designed to be flexible in attendance so you can choose the sessions that suit you best. We do encourage you to consider attending for the entire afternoon to gain the most benefit and to join us for a social catch up session at the end.

EASY YOGA FOR THE WORKPLACE with NAT

Paired with effective breathing techniques, this simple sequence will leave you feeling centred and energised, ready to engage with the rest of your day. Perfect for a work break, leave feeling inspired and empowered to take this practice with you for whenever you need it.

Nat launched Her Element Yoga & Pilates at the beginning of 2023 in Yarra Junction, in  partnership with Pilates Instructor Amy, with the mission to provide relaxed, family friendly and accessible classes to the local community.  Nat loves to challenge the preconceived ideas we hold about who and what you need to be in order to be enjoy yoga. She guides her students to pay attention to the experience, to be kind when our inner critic rears its head and to a feeling of being at home within our own bodies, using breath and movement. The benefits of improved mobility, strength and flexibility all just happen to be happy by products of a more peaceful internal state.

FOREST AND SOUND BATH with CATHERINE

Experience the beautiful fusion of Ecotherapy & Sound with guided forest bathing, plant music facilitation (hear the trees sing!), and a sound healing amongst the trees to leave you feeling deeply rested and rejuvenated.

Catherine is a Counsellor, Trauma Therapist, Ecotherapist, Sound Healer, Parks Vic Licenced Tour Operator, and Reiki Practitioner, with extensive experience in mental health, as a specialist family violence practitioner, facilitator and trainer, and experience in the prevention of violence against women and child safety legislation. She uses this expertise to hold a safe, trauma-informed, and knowledgeable space for participants. Catherine is passionate about helping people to connect with nature using her unique fusion of Ecotherapy & Sound to boost their mental health and wellbeing, working with retreats, schools, and workplaces. She believes that the act of connecting with nature is not only beneficial to our wellbeing, but it also increases our compassion for the earth and how we take care of it.

COACH NICK’S DRAW SHOW WORKSHOP with NICK

Nick has developed Coach Nick’s Draw Show workshop, where he not only shares his own story but does drawing games and activities to help coach the inner cartoonist in everyone. A lot of people say they can’t draw, to that Nick says, “You just haven’t had the right coach!”

Being a cartoonist all his life (so says the greatest cartoonist to come out of Millgrove), Nick Loves sharing the Passion and Joy he has for cartooning with others, whether it be through drawing people at Bunnings or coaching people on how to draw.

SINGING IN THE VALLEY with SANTHA Do you sing in the shower or car but feel too shy to share your voice with others? Do you know the myriad of health benefits singing in a group can facilitate? With a lifetime of experience leading singing for the terrified, Santha creates a super safe environment for people to create sound and song together. If you love to sing in private or with others, this is the workshop for you! Santha Press has been a vocalist her whole life and has been leading voice workshops in a wide range of education, performance and healthcare settings for over thirty years. Drawing on ongoing training in voice, percussion, meditation, dance, improvisation and yoga, Santha has an approach to voicework that focuses on embodied participation, harmony, wellbeing, accessibility, inclusivity and joy. Everyone is welcome and participants are often stunned to discover the voice they never knew they had and how fun it is to share with others!
